CLE Cuarenta by Christian Eiroa

When you think of the name Christian Eiroa many people automatically think about Camacho Brands, which was owned by the family until Davidoff purchased the brand in 2008. Some will remember that even after the purchase, Christian stayed as the President over the brand. But to me, CLE cigars represents a fresh start for an old favorite of mine. When I think about cigars that really got me over from the “usual” suspects, I instantly think of the Camacho Connecticut and the Camacho Triple Maduro. I also think of the box of Camacho 10th Anniversary that was given to me on my wedding day.

After getting a Robusto of the CLE Cuarenta at Chattanooga Tweet Up I hit the internet to find out some things about the brand and more specifically the blend, and all I can really tell you is  CLE is a limited edition line using Habano Seed wrapper to mark the 40th Birthday of Christian, and that  the price if about $5.50-$6.00 for the robusto, other than that, I’m betting it’s Honduran. The company website says it all to me “What would you do, if you could do it all over again…”

Judging by this smoke I can tell you that Christian is setting off on the same path that he was on when the brand sold in 2008. This medium body smoke is smooth, with some slight cedar notes being the flavor I grab the most….WAIT WHAT?? Did I just do that?

Aside from the usual bantering of a cigar review, I can say that for a little over $5, I believe this cigar is actually UNDER priced for what you get. This is by no means in my regular profile anymore, but it would certainly earn a spot on my morning smoking rotation for the weekends, as I believe it would best be paired with coffee rather than the Weller bourbon I drank with it. The typical things you expect out of the Eiroa family are present in this cigar. First, it’s a medium smoke to me, knocking on the door of full. It’s a well constructed and almost flawlessly constructed cigar. And last- it’s a bargain. If you see these I highly recommend picking a few up to try.

To the point-

The Positive- You want a more full cigar for a morning smoke but don’t want to be knocked on your ass? Grab this.

The Negative- As of this writing I have not found them on the shelves of any of the local B&M’s in the greater Nashville area, which I believe will change as the reps get in place.
