Emilio AF Suave Churchill

Getting a text message from Emilio Cigar’s National Sales Manager- the one and only Nate   McIntrye- is often times like a box of chocolates. If chocolates were nut kicks. See, when I first smoked the Suave, my first impression on the sizes was “This isn’t your Daddy’s Connecticut”

The Building Blocks:

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut

All the other particulars were Unknown.

The sizes available are: Corona, Torpedo, Robusto, Toro and Churchill

The Suave is a great looking Connecticut shade wrapper. One of my favorite things about Emilio Cigars is the simplicity of the bands and the great appearance of the wrappers. Understated art, that let the product speak for itself.

My pallet usually moves toward a fuller body smoke, so when I was through the first quarter of the cigar I was amazingly surprised at how full flavored this cigar. Like I said at the start, this is not a typical Connecticut Cigar, in fact, the goal was to make a Connecticut that was nothing like a typical mild connecticut cigar. It is meant to be a Connecticut cigar for fans of both a full bodied smoke, and the ones who frequently reach for the lighter variety. If that was the goal, then this cigar fully met that goal.

To the Point:

I am now on Day 6 of this cigar, I am running short on food and supplies. Most of my associates in this venture have either died of malnutrition or attempted to swim to land. Please send help.

The Positive: This is a great cigar. Of the AF lines, I would easily put this at my #2. I can honestly say that my favorite cigar sizes being Corona and Churchill, you can no doubt find these sitting in my humidor.

The Negative: I want to know what else is in it. The cigar has a very mild spice flavor to it along with a great “Grassy” tone to it that is typical of Connecticut cigars. I can say that for me personally, I was underwhelmed with the Toro.

Would I buy a Box: Damn right. If you locate one of these cigars at your tobacconist, pick it up. This cigar is possibly the best example of not judging a book by its cover. I would easily say that for me, the Churchill is so far my favorite size. This cigar packs the unofficial motto of Emilio Cigars- NUTKICKS!
