Torano Master Habano Maduro

Torano Master Habano Maduro

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano Maduro

Binder: Habano Ecuador

Filler: Nicaraguan and Dominican

Size: Robusto 5×50

Apparently I decided to visit Uptowns on the right day, I think it was rep day.  I got to spend some time with Andrea, our local Torano rep, who gave me one of the new Torano Master Habano Maduros to try.  I smoked it while at Uptowns in the company of many of our local cigar reps.

The look of this cigar is very pleasant.  The maduro wrapper is dark, but not as dark as some other maduro lines.  It is a very deep color, and had a very nice oily shine to it.  The band is very similar to the band that can be found on the original Master lines, with a change in color to a very rich red and gold color scheme.

This cigar started out with good flavor and some nice woodsy notes.  At about the quarter mark I again thought this was a good cigar, but a little bit one-dimensional flavor wise.  At the half, this cigar definitely picked up some spice notes, as well as some strong pepper flavoring.  The pepper provided an almost light cayenne flavoring on the roof of my mouth.

Burn wise this sucker was straight.  The Torano Master Maduro burned evenly throughout the entire smoke, even though there was much talking and other things going on in the shop.  The ash was good, a little loose overall, but did not fall unless I ashed it.  Smoke was good and white.

Buy it again?  Well technically I did not buy this one, but yes I think I would.  I might not pick up a box, but I could see picking up three here and there.  This cigar is great for someone looking for a sweet maduro that is not just a total powerhouse.  I would classify this as an all day maduro, not one you have to wait to smoke until you’ve finished a big meal.  Go out and try one and let me know what you think.
