1502 Black Gold

Made by Global Premium Cigar, and distributed by Emilio Cigars, the 1502 Black Gold represents the strongest offering of this brand. 1502 has the Black Gold, Ruby and the Emerald. Having previously reviewed the Ruby and appreciating its mild flavor for a great morning smoke, I was looking forward to trying the Black Gold to see how their full bodied offering would shape out.

The building blocks for the Black Gold offer a San Andres wrapper with all Nicaraguan binder and filler. So what’s that mean in broken down terms? Well it means that this cigar has balls gentlemen.

I will be honest, I am a full bodied cigar fan. I am also by Scottish blood, inherently cheap. So when I saw the low price point of this cigar (starting around $5) I was excited. If you are a fan of a full bodied cigar I will say with full confidence that you will enjoy this smoke. The San Andres wrapper is almost flawless and the draw is another perfect offering by 1502. If you see it, grab it.

The Positive-What can I say except this is the best offering by 1502. The cigar is well rounded and I even enjoyed the box pressed, which is something I typically avoid.

The Negative- I don’t get hung up on this, but I had some burn issues. And I will explain why I don’t care. I would probably say that 70% of the time a burn issue is a self inflicted wound. For me, I was smoking in front of my space heater. So that was my fault. Remember the next time you have burn problems it can be more times your own damn fault and not the maker.

Would I buy a box? Probably so. If nothing else it’s a great cigar to keep around for friends.
