Press Release: Los Regalos Quetzal Begins Shipping

Press Release
December 28, 2012
Gary Griffith of Emilio Cigars announced this morning that the first blend of the Los Regalos series, “Quetzal”, made in Esteli, Nicaragua will begin shipping immediately.
“These cigars are being produced in a new factory for Emilio Cigars, and we are excited to have formed this new partnership,” he said.
There will be a total of 4 blends in the series, as well as a limited edition cigar made entirely from 2006 harvest tobaccos.
“The Robusto, Toro, and Torpedo sizes are available at this time,” said Griffith, “and the Corona and Sixty will be released on January 11 at Riverside Cigars in Jeffersonville, IN. Those two sizes will ship to other retailers subsequent to that event.”
This will be Emilio Cigars final new release of 2012, capping off an extremely productive year in which several new Emilio blends became available, and in which numerous distribution agreements were negotiated.

Fuente Anejo 2012 No.46

Arturo Fuente Anejo 2012

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican

Size: No. 46-5 5/8 x 46

Price: $12

If you are a cigar lover and do not know about the Fuente Anejo, you are probably living under a rock somewhere.  Every year around Thanksgiving Fuente releases a very limited amount of special cigars, the Anejo.  As the story goes, back in 1998 the Fuente factory suffered from damaging hurricane winds and rain, losing all of the wrapper leaf for the Opus X.  Instead of not making the Opus X that year they decided to use another wrapper.  Well, people liked it so much that Fuente started making it, and the Anejo was born.  The first release of the Anejo was in 2001 if I remember right, and has been going strong ever since.

Pat’s Top 10 of 2012

Seems this year just got started and here we are at the end! This year was really tough for me to write. Not only were there so many cigars to hit the market, but there were many I did not get a chance to even try. I smoke primarily boutique cigars, really not by design or intent, but it is typically what I am drawn toward. With that said I did enjoy some GREAT cigars from some older names, particularly the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva by Ashton.

La Musa Mousa the Grimalkin reborn.  For those of you who have been a fan of Emilio Cigars for some time now, you may remember a fantastic cigar called the Grimalkin.  You know the one, it had the band with the set of cats eyes on it.  Anyways, Emilio Cigars decided a little while back that it was time to rebrand the Grimalkin into what is now known as the La Musa Mousa.

After a very long and stressful week I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a box sitting outside my door tonight when I arrived home.  I picked it up wondering what it could be since I could not remember ordering anything.  Then I saw the return address, Gary Griffith.  Now for those of you who do not know, Gary Griffith is the brand owner and genius behind Emilio Cigars.  Emilio cigars announced a little while back that they would be distributing Ezra Zion Cigars, and that is how this little treat wound up in my hands.

La Hermandad by Primer Mundo

Primer Mundo teamed up with Abe Flores at PDR to come up with the La Hermandad Cigar. La Hermandad, translated, means “The Brotherhood” and for me instantly makes me think of “Man on Fire”, but that is neither here nor there.

The Building Blocks for this cigar feature a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper and Nicaraguan Binder and Filler. It is available in the following sizes
