Frank’s Top 10 Cigars of 2012

Frank’s Top 10 of 2012

What can I say about 2012?  Did you see all the amazing sticks that came out this past year?  We have been very blessed in the cigar world to have had a wonderful year for new releases.  We were only able to touch a small amount of them here on the site.  What follows are some of the cigars that I have enjoyed greatly over this past year.  There are many more that are not on this list, but these are some that have really stood out for me.

#10-1502 Cigars Ruby-Quite possibly one of the best unknown cigars I discovered this year.  This is an excellent medium bodied smoke with loads of flavor.  Plus I spent a night drinking with Enrique the company owner.

#9-Tarazona Classic-Eddie!  If you have met the guy, you probably had an awesome time.  Genuine and fun is how I describe him, plus he is a Pit Bull advocate, which is close to my heart.  Oh, and his cigars rock.  Excellent flavor with an interesting sweetness to them.

#8-Fernando Leon-Well when you spend a few days in the Dominican Republic with Miami Cigars and Guillermo, you get to smoke the new Fernando Leon pre release and give your input.  This is an excellent cigar, and I am so glad that the production stick still has the flavor that we smoked while at the factory.  Excellent smoke.

#7-Four Kicks Mule Kick-I remember sitting at The Crowned Heads HQ when Jon said, “what do you do with a bunch of extra aged Four Kicks wrapper?”  Well, they made a limited edition stick out of it.  Consider it a Four Kicks on steroids!

#6-Cuenca Y Blanco-Smoked my first one at the IPCPR after party, and have smoked a box or two since then.  This is what happens when two masters of the cigar industry come together to make a stick.  Amazing flavor and a pure enjoyment to smoke.

#5 Rodrigo-I met George at the Chattanooga Tweet Up this year, and have had the pleasure of hanging out with him at a few other events across the country.  He is a great guy with a passion for good cigars.  The Rodrigo is an excellent smoke full of flavor.

#4-La Duena-I’m not sure that Pete has ever made anything I was not a fan of.  Excellent quality and construction on this medium to full bodied smoke with loads of flavor.

#3-Los Regalos Quetzal-From start to finish, every one of these that I have smoked has been enjoyable.  The flavor is pure enjoyment and really appealing to my palate.   The Quetzal is a cigar that will surely be enjoyed for many years to come.

#2-Ortega Serie D Maduro-Quite possibly the cigar I was most interested in finding at IPCPR.  This amazing stick created by Eddie Ortega has tons of flavor.  The Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper really makes this cigar.

#1-Crowned Heads Headley Grange-Wow, this is one hell of a cigar.  This is what happens when you place a master cigar maker and two brand owners who want to make an amazing product together.  This is my choice for a medium to full bodied full flavor smoke.

yeah, the Draig K was AMAZING..

and it should’ve won best band of 2012.

  2. Hey, you forgot the Emilio Draig K. I’m sure it is just a misprint here. You really meant to put it on there didn’t you? Other than that, a very fine list of smokes.
