Headley Grange by The Crowned Heads-the Full Line

Later this month the full line of the sophomore release from The Crowned Heads will hit the shelves of retailers across the country. Headley Grange, which won the Unanimous Cigar of the Year from the KYMC crew, will finally be released in its 5 sizes. I will admit however that I tossed the sample of the Dobles to the owner of the Cigar Station in a successful attempt to solidify the owners want for the line on his shelves. My bad Jon and Mike!

Hermoso No 4- 5×48, Eminentes 5 1/4×44, Estupendos 5 1/2×52 (previously released), Corona Gorda 5 5/8×46 and the Dobles 6 1/8×50.

I was lucky enough to be given a pack of all 5 sizes cigars several weeks ago on the last visit the original Crowned Heads studio. I was excited enough to try these that at first I passed on trying the new JD Howard Reserve.

The first thing to say about this line is that all 5 sizes exhibit distinctly different characteristics from one another. To me, being able to show different flavor profiles using the same blend is a trait shown by many of the products from EPC and his Tabacalera la Alianza factory in the DR. Each size is a unique experience, but of all sizes I would say the Eminentes is by far my favorite size. Typically when I over think a new release before I try it, I am disappointed. In the case of the Eminentes I wanted to give it justice for a typical smoker. Do cigar smokers eat ginger leaves to clean their palate and only drink water during a stick? Hell no! I lit the grill, cooked a steak and poured myself a nice Willett Bourbon Pot Still reserve. At no single point did this cigar disappoint. I am of the same mind set as some others who tried the size, that I would challenge anyone to find a more balanced and well constructed cigar in a 44.

Since I was asked I will rank my personal preference list.

1) Eminentes 2) Estupendos 3)Corona Gorda 4) Hermosa #4.

Don’t take my word for it, go hunt these down when they start shipping to your local shops in the next few weeks. If you haven’t tried an HG yet, do it. If you did, i suggest buying the whole line to sample yourself, guaranteed you will have a favorite too. And as a side note- the JD Howard Reserve is a continuation of out doing the previous release. It’s really that damned good.
