It’s not everyday that we review a shops “house” blend, but why not?  Today I had the pleasure of smoking the house blend of one of my favorite local shops, Big Star Cigar.  The cigars come as a natural or maduro wrapped cigar and are available in bundles of twenty, and are available in the sizes mentioned above.  I smoked the natural in the Churchill size for this review.

Looking at the appearance of this cigar, it is light in color with some medium sized veins running through it.  Being that it is a bundle cigar, it comes without a band.

Moving on to everyone’s favorite section of the review, the flavor.  I really did not know what I was going to be in for when I first decided to review this cigar.  I have know Scott Partridge one of the owners of Big Star Cigar for quite some time now, and he does not normally steer me wrong on good cigars.  Upon lighting this cigar I was immediately greeted with notes of cedar and citrus, as well as a very pleasing salty flavor.  These flavors remained throughout the entire smoke with and added sweetness and nuttiness kicking in around the mid point.

The burn of this cigar was spot on.  The first ash actually held until the 3-4 inch mark before falling.  The smoke on this cigar was thick and white.

Buy it again?  Sure, and I’d really love to try the maduro.  These cigars come in bundles, so there are no added banding or boxing, which in turn cuts down the price.  You wind up with an excellent cigar at an affordable price, which makes this a great everyday smoke.  It is also an excellent cigar for the novice smoker who might want to try cigar smoking.
