Ramon Allones Specially Selected

Ramon Allones Specially Selected

Ramon Allones SS

Wrapper: Cuban

Binder: Cuban

Filler: Cuban

Size: Corona Gorda 5 5/8 x 46

Acquired: Gifted by a friend.

Today’s review is a very special treat that was gifted to me by a friend this past weekend at the Music City Pipe Show and Sale in Nashville, TN.  The Ramon Allones  Specially Selected is a Cuban made cigar that is unavailable for purchase here in the U.S..   The Ramon Allones that was smoked for this review is from 2010.

Looks wise this cigar sports a light tan to brown colored wrapper with minimal veining.  The cigar features a triple cap and a rich gold and red band.  The wording on the band reads “Ramon Allones” and “Habana.”

Strength and Flavor:  Strength wise this cigar falls into the mild to light medium bodied category.  Upon smelling this cigar, I picked up strong cedar notes, which were also present on the pre-light draw.  While smoking the Ramon Allones Specially Selected, I tasted strong wood flavors as well as a rich earthiness.   About half way through this smoke a very pleasant creaminess developed and remained through the rest of the smoke.

Burn wise this cigar did fall short on numerous occasions.  As is my experience with many Cuban cigars, they seem to be lacking in the quality of construction category.  This cigar required approximately 5 touch ups to even out the burn while smoking.

This is the section of the review that we generally say if we would buy it again or not, unfortunately this one is not readily available in the U.S..  The flavor is great, but it does fall short in the construction category.  That being said, I would definitely smoke another, if one was given to me.
