I have long been a fan of the La Aurora cigar line, I even had the opportunity to visit the factory a couple years ago in the Dominican Republic.  The quality of work and care that goes into the making of every cigar blew my mind, the Puro Vintage 2005 definitely held up to these standards.

The La Aurora Puro Vintage 2005 is a limited release of 1,000 boxes.  Boxes will contain eight Salomon cigars each.  All of the tobaccos used in this cigar were harvested in 2005 and have been aging nicely.

First off looks wise, this is a beautiful medium brown colored cigar.  The Salomon shape is perfectly rolled and features a large black, gold, and white band.  The band reads “La Aurora”, “2005”, and “110th Anniversary”.

Upon lighting the La Aurora Puro Vintage 2005, you are immediately greeted with strong but not overbearing pepper flavors.  The pepper notes gradually rise along with a sweet nuttiness that develops around the quarter mark.  The pepper notes begin to mellow around the half way point as the nuttiness continues to grow and becomes very enjoyable.  Even with the power of the pepper I would still put this cigar a strong medium in the strength category.

The Salomon size is one of those shapes that can either be great or awful when it comes to burn.  I am happy to report that this cigar smoked perfectly right out of the cigar shops humidor and burned evenly throughout the entire smoke requiring no touch ups.

So, buy it again?  Sure would.  This is an excellent cigar for mid afternoon and early evening smokes.  The flavors are strong and enjoyable throughout this smoke.  The only true downside I can find would be the price.  Not everyone is willing to drop almost seventeen bucks on a stick.  I will tell you it is worth at least one smoke, you can make your own decisions after you enjoy that first one.
