Arturo Fuente Casa Cuba
Binder: Dominican Republic
Filler: Dominican Republic
Size: 5×50 Robusto
Acquired: The Smokey Cigar-Hendersonville, TN
The Casa Cuba is one of the newest releases to come out of the Fuente factory. Though a regular production cigar, the Casa Cuba will only be available to retailers who purchase 25 or more boxes of Fuente line products, this is the same process they do with the Opus X line. The Casa Fuente will be available in four sizes, a 5×50 Robusto, 5 ¼ x44 Corona, 6×52 Vitola, and a 4 ½ x52.
The cigar I smoked for this review was the 5×50 Robusto size. The cigar itself has a light brown wrapper with minimal veining. The wrapper has an almost flat tone to it with the slightest bit of an oily sheen. The cigar is a slight box pressed shape and also has a very nice triple cap. The band on the Casa Cuba reads “Casa Cuba,” “Flor Fina,” and the lower band reads Pre Release 2013. The band itself has a very classy look to it.
My favorite section, the flavor! Taste wise this cigar is amazing. The Casa Cuba opens with some medium wood notes that are joined with some sweet cocoa flavors. As the cigar progresses you discover some pleasant coffee flavorings and a sweet creaminess. I have to say that this is one cigar that I was sad to see end because the flavor was just superb.
Burn wise, it was excellent. Burned start to finish on its initial light, even though I set it down and walked away a couple times. When I returned back a couple minutes later it was still burning perfectly.
Buy it? Yes, if you can find it. This has got to be one of the best tasting cigars that I have had out of the Fuente lines in a long time. Their cigars have always been good, but I am always looking for something new and flavorful and that is exactly what they did with the Casa Cuba. The only downfall I can find is the rather steep price of the cigar. Go out and try one, then let us know what you think.
