Kristoff Criollo

Kristoff Criollo

Kristoff Criollo

Wrapper: Cuban seed Honduran Criollo

Binder: Cuban seed Dominican

Filler: Cuban seed Dominican and Nicaraguan

Size: Robusto 5 ½ x 54

Price: $7-$8

Acquired: Sample courtesy of Cigars City

About a month ago our friend Anthony from sent me a message asking if we would be interested in reviewing some Kristoff sticks. Not being one to turn down a free cigar I said sure and he sent some my way.

Looks: The Kristoff Criollo that we are reviewing today has a tan colored band that reads “Kristoff” prominently displayed in the middle. Above the name reads, “Elite Cuban Taste.” The back side of the band reads, “Hand Made” and has a picture of the logo. The band on this cigar is simple yet elegant and appeals to my more traditional opinion of cigar bands. Probably the most prominent thing I noticed about this cigar was the medium to dark brown oily Honduran Criollo wrapper leaf that adorns it. The Honduran Criollo wrapper has some medium veins to it, is finished on the top with a pigtailed cap, and on the bottom with an uncut foot.

Taste: This cigar starts out with a pepper spice hit along with some warm wood notes and pleasant cedar flavors. As I smoked it, the wood notes began to become more prominent while the pepper became a more mild and subdued flavor. I began to detect some sweet spice notes around the quarter to half way mark, this sweetness would remain present throughout the rest of the smoke.

Strength: Medium

Burn: As with almost all the cigars from the Kristoff line that I have smoked before the burn was even and straight requiring no touch ups. The smoke was abundant and produced tons of thick white smoke.

It’s a good stick, should you buy it? Why not. The Kristoff Criollo produces some great flavors and in my experience they have never made a bad cigar when it comes to construction. This combination makes this a great cigar that you will definitely enjoy. Now that you have decided you are going to pick some up, take a visit on over to and grab some!
