Ezra Zion Cigar Company is a brand that has really impressed me over the last couple years. They seem to be one of those companies that continue to make great cigars, from their first release to their newest, their sticks are top notch in my book. The new Ezra Zion Tantrum P.A. is one of their latest offerings that just simply hits it out of the park.   The P.A. stands for “Passive Aggressive” which they claim refers to the strength dynamic of the cigar.

The Tantrum P.A. is a limited release by Ezra Zion Cigar Company, annual production of this stick is limited to 700 boxes each containing 28 cigars.

Looks: First off this is a long sleek looking cigar in an excellent 6 ½ x 44 size. The Tantrum P.A. sports a medium brown Cuban Seed Corojo wrapper leaf that has been aging since 1999. This cigar is box pressed, the wrapper leaf has minimal veining, and is finished off with a triple cap. The Tantrum P.A. has two bands, the standard silver and black Ezra Zion Cigar Company band and an additional foot band in the same color scheme that reads “TANTRUM” and “Edicíon Limitada”.

Taste: Upon first lighting the Tantrum P.A. I am immediately hit with a dark richness. The prominent flavors I am detecting on the front end are that of rich earthiness, some medium pepper notes, spice, and cocoa. While smoking a unique creaminess starts to become ever more present along with some strong wood notes. About mid way there are some notes of hay and the earthiness has become ever more prevalent. Toward the end of the cigar many of the flavors that have mellowed together begin to become more prominent again and truly make this cigar a very enjoyable smoke.

Strength: I found that this cigar starts as a fairly medium strength cigar mainly due to the spice and pepper notes. As you smoke this cigar it mellows into a mild to medium and than gains a bit more strength as you wind into the final third.

Burn: Spot on requiring no touch ups. Ash was firm and gray and held only falling when tapped.

Buy it? It’s a great cigar with a very unique strength and flavor profile. I would definitely recommend giving this cigar a try especially if you enjoyed the original Tantrum release. Smoke it and let us know what you think!
